The FW City Council Attendance Tracking Project was created in 2021 after a Council member was publicly challenged by a citizen about a boast that the member had only "missed one meeting since 2020". In attempting to corroborate this Council member's claim, it was determined that the attendance data for Fort Wayne City Council members is not available to the voters, taxpayers, or the general public. Those requesting such data are referred to reviewing past video recordings of Council meetings. The result of watching hundreds of hours of Council meetings, a robust database and reporting structure was created and named the FW City Council Attendance Tracking project. To finish the story, the council member in question had actually missed 3 meetings since 2020, instead of one, as claimed.
